Helpful Tips

This is a very good schedule for crate training & potty training your Mastiffs puppy, the only thing I would do different is to not allow walks/playtime after they eat, give them 30 to 60 mins of rest time after eating, to avoid Bloat/Twisted Gut.
TRAINING:
Your puppy will grow to be a very big dog. You will want to start training your puppy as soon as possible to establish yourself as the leader. Leash training is very important at this age too. You don’t want a 200 lb plus dog that will not listen to you! Start early, star young, and don’t stop just because they graduate from Puppy Classes! If you don’t want your English Mastiff as an 200 lb dog on your furniture or bed DO NOT allow it now when they are cute and little! Once you allow it to happen you can’t keep it from happening and some dogs will start to see you as equal and NOT the leader. You don’t want this to happen. You need to remain the Alpha in charge. If the puppy thinks that you are not it’s boss, then that’s when behavior problems start to happen, such as biting, growling, bullying, etc starts. Once the puppy is older you can introduce a pinch collar to help if your puppy pulls. Dogs respond very well to these as long as the OWNER knows how to use one. So please get informed about them don’t just run out and purchase one and give it a try.
SHOTS:
Your puppy will be current on all age-appropriate shots when you pick it up. Our puppies get their puppy shots at 6, 9, 12, and 15 weeks of age. Depending on how old your puppy was when you picked it up, you may need to finish it’s shots. The puppy should be given a 5-Way puppy shot, not a 7-Way puppy shot. Please REQUEST that your vet does NOT give your puppy the LEPTO vaccine. The LEPTO vaccine kills more puppies than the actual virus. LEPTO can be given after the puppy is one year old.
VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS:
NEVER give your puppy any calcium, vitamins or supplements! English Mastiffs grow extremely fast already, if you try to alter that, you will end up with an adult English Mastiff with HUGE problems. Heart and Joint problems can occur very easily when you “hot feed” an English Mastiff. If you feel as if your puppy is growing weird, such as bowed legs, crooked toes, splayed feet, or flat toes please contact me immediately to discuss treatment – which could be as simple as switching dog food.

However, if your puppy is more or less than 15lbs. than what the chart states at its particular age, be sure to contact your breeder and vet to be sure your pup is not malnourished, or obese.
